THE zMAD HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE

A HANDS-ON LIFE CHANGING HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER CIVIC LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

YOU ARE ONLY CONFINED BY THE WALLS YOU BUILD YOURSELF

The Make A Difference (zMAD) Leadership Experience is a challenging hands-on 40 hour Civic Leadership Program where students work with coaches, movers and shakers in the community and nonprofits to solve community issues.

Teams of four students work with a coach over a 40 hour period to compete in creating the most innovative and effective solution to a community need. These needs may be in the areas of homelessness, child hunger, bullying, depression, environmental concerns and others.

Each team will choose a need that they can stand behind and then get at the creative work of solving it!At the end of the four weeks each team will pitch their project at a community event. Teams compete for cash prizes, scholarships for continued education, Shasta College credit, job training and job opportunities.

zMAD challenges students to be creative, build bridges through new relationships, develop additional leadership skills and make a difference in their community!

The program provides mentors and their students an enriching environment to build stronger relationships as they work as a tight-knit group to solve a problem. Mentors also get to inspire their team to push past their limitations and get a glimpse of what they are truly capable of achieving. zMAD helps students embody the Zig Ziglar quote, “When you catch a glimpse of your potential, that’s when passion is formed”

This program is based around Stanford’s Design Thinking Process. You and your team will learn how to follow this process and learn how to problem solve in a very creative way.  Students gain critical-thinking, problem-solving, leadership, decision-making, communication skills, professionalism/work ethic, and teamwork/collaboration skills.

Be part of this amazing opportunity that shows teens that they have value, purpose and potential and can make a difference in our community.
